- Cowgirl Volleyball
The cowgirls really challenged the top rated conference team, Villisca on their home court on 9/16.
Unfortunately – the cowgirls came out on the short end in the last game of 5. Scores were:
25-21 Villisca, 21-25 Sidney, 21-25 Sidney, 25-23 Villisca, and 18-16 Villisca.
Osborne had 17 kills and 7 blocks from the middle, Blazek had 12 kills and 2 blocks from the middle as well as 3 ace serves.
Roberts had 4 digs and 41 Assists; Ragland had 4 digs and 10 assists and Cruickshank added 5 digs and 9 assists.
The Farragut ladies also challenged us this week and the cowgirls just didn’t have the spurs to hang on to this one for a win.
25-15 Farragut
25-20 Sidney
22-25 Sidney
4- 25 Farragut
12-15 Farragut
Middle hitters Amy Osborne and Holly Blazek are starting to become much more of a threat in the middle. Blazek had an excellent 3 games of blocking and kills against Farragut before turning an ankle in the 3rd game. That injury may have been the key factor in taking away the momentum we needed to keep the Farragut Lady Admirals down.
Our back row continues to improve on serve receives and digs. If these ladies continue to improve as fast as they have this season, they will be hard to beat in the conference tournament.
This week the cowgirls will be very busy. They travel to Brownell Talbot in Omaha on Monday, and to Essex on Tuesday, host Nebraska Southeast on Thursday, and host the Border Classic with at least 3 matches on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
